The star has handed over the complete sum of his £25k award winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to protect the United Kingdom's grassroots music venues.

Fender was presented with the award on 16 October as his third album the album was declared the best record of the previous year.

He has opted to give the cash to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the crucial part small stages played in his early career.

"As an artist wouldn't be doing what I am doing today if it wasn't for all the gigs I performed around the area, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," remarked Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are in difficulty."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these locations have ceased operations – roughly one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

Over the past year, major artists such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the MVT in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by applying a minor surcharge to their ticket prices, which goes to help local stages.

Fender also joined in, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his recent tour to support 38 grassroots venues across the UK.

These funds assisted spaces that were dealing with imminent closure due to issues arising from flooding, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and neighbor objections.

Additional spaces obtained monetary aid in upgrading facilities and gear that directly benefitted artists and audiences.

"The notion that money from shows in major spaces backs the smaller venues, where it kicks off for artists like me, is just sensible," the star has stated.

The musician is among several artists to contribute his honor winnings to worthy causes.

In Pulp won the award in 1996 for their album their work, frontman Cocker announced that the group would donate their cash to the organization War Child.

During 2002, rapper and singer she shared her bounty across multiple good causes, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"And I contributed a grand to my local community centre, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they needed better apparatus," the artist explained to the media.

In recent years, they gave their prize money to the youth organization that developed their band, as well as other local music groups.

And the 1994 recipients they donated their winnings to a MS organization after a acquaintance was diagnosed the disease.

"The victory was quite enough," said artist Small. "The prize was the extra but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the cake. So our success affected somebody else's life."

Last week, the MVT shared it had protected two local spots in the South East, by bringing them into public stewardship.

One venue in Southampton and the second in the city were purchased under the Own Our Venues program, which is backed by the arts council and supporters who purchase "shares" in the buildings.
